Description
I finally had an opportunity the other night to sit down and sketch my beloved girlfriend, who I'll take the time now to thank again for letting me do so. This was a really fast sketch that I feel turned out very nicely. I did the outline in willow charcoal, which also provided the foundation of the skin tone. From there, I used HB and 6B pencils to deepen the tonal value and create some harder shadows here and there. Highlights are courtesy of a Tuff Stuff eraser. The page was too large to scan, so I photographed it and then played with the levels a little in photoshop, just to give it a nice old-time sepai'd paper appearance that seemed like the right way to go. I'm sure those of you who know her will tell me where I might be a little off on her face.
I should experiment more with the mediums in the future, since willow and graphite don't play well together, but I still like how this turned out. But the credit should really go to the model
