Pale Man

"Beware, for the creature that slumbers there is not human."
Pan's Labyrinth is still one of the best films I've seen this year, and I couldn't wait to get my hands on the DVD just so that I could watch the scene in the Pale Man's lair again. That creature is just so remarkable and so inspiring, it makes me think of the crazy crap I used to draw as a young boy. Aww, the twisted memories.
God, this took me a long time to get done. The delays aren't important, it's that I feel I really put some honest effort into this piece. The drawing was done almost entirely in 2B and 7B pencil, along with the every present aid of some nice blending tools. I began with drawing with a couple of brand new blenders which have since been shaved down to nubs.
I have to admit, I'm not 100% content with the lighting. It's still one of my weakest areas. All things considered, it's pretty good. I used myself as a model for as much as I was able to.
Anyhow, I hope you all enjoy it, and if not, then I hope it frightens you. It's what you get for disturbing his dinner, the contents of which are best left unpondered.
